Reverend Yasuhiro Miyakawa was born and raised in Japan. He was ordained in 1975 in Hongwanji and Kyoshi Ordained in 1976, and Kaikyoshi (assigned to Overseas Missionary) in 1979. In 1979 he came to, Canada to the Toronto Buddhist Church. He was then assigned to the Calgary Buddhist Temple and Edmonton Fellowship in 1980. In 1982 he moved to Southern Alberta which includes Lethbridge Buddhist Temple, Honpa Buddhist Church, Raymond Buddhist Church, Picture Butte Buddhist Church, Taber Buddhist Church, Coaldale Buddhist Church, and Rosemary Buddhist Temple. In 1985, he was assigned to the Manitoba Buddhist Church overseeing Thunder Bay Buddhist Fellowships and Regina Buddhist Fellowship until 1999. Since October, 2004, Rev. Miyakawa has been the resident minister for the Interior Shin Buddhist Temples of Kamloops, Kelowna and Vernon. He resides in Kelowna with his family.
